About the founders

Joanna Zarach

In a constant search for a challenge, Joanna went from a rigorous scientific training at MIT and Johns Hopkins University right into one of the most prestigious consulting companies in the world, McKinsey & Co. At McKinsey, Joanna served clients across a variety of industries: chemicals, consumer packaged goods, airline, insurance and public sector; and functions: strategy, marketing, sales, pricing, sourcing, and operations. She then joined the staff of the Obama For America headquarters, where she gained hands-on, practical operational experience and enabled the campaign to have an unprecedented ability to forecast, manage and optimize its spending by developing processes and tools to rapidly track the multi-million dollar budget for the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates’ appearances.

Following the election, Joanna returned to consulting, with deeper insight into how the right outlook, capabilities, and passion can turn ideas into actions. Joanna has since teamed up with Jackie Perri, a former client, to create Glean Consulting and she has enhanced her consulting portfolio with operations projects in the mining and educational services industries.

Joanna’s approach combines the rigor and methodology used by strategy consulting firms with a greater focus on operational requirements. She finds and delivers value in areas that large consulting firms too often neglect: tool development, knowledge transfer, capability building, change management, and “long-and-lean” project management support. These aspects play off of Joanna’s unique ability to interact with client team members in a driven and collaborative manner that focuses on achieving results.

For Joanna – and for Glean Consulting - consulting work does not end with the recommendation. Impact is delivered when ideas are coupled with actions.

Jackie Perri

Jackie served in various leadership positions at Southwest Airlines for 14 years. She excelled in each one, with a passion for success and dedication to service, training, operations management, and leadership. During her tenure she joined a team led by consultants from McKinsey & Co. leading a large change initiative. During the project, she received intense training in data analysis, strategic problem solving, strategic recommendations, presentation preparation and delivery, and implementation. She was promoted to a leadership position on the internal consulting team and went on to lead teams in subsequent engagements. Jackie transitioned to a new leadership position in airport operations at Southwest’s 3rd largest station to apply the invaluable skills and education she had gained. Jackie succeeded in reducing baggage service failures by 51%, and reducing overtime by 42%, while improving customer satisfaction and significantly reducing operational costs.

Following this experience, Jackie joined Joanna in forming Glean Consulting, based on their shared passion and skill for both designing solutions and implementing them, grounded in practical day-to-day experience and their skill and perspective on how to overcome technical and adoption issues.

Jackie is especially skilled at taking ideas through to implementation. She has the “eye of the operator” and knows how to lead and manage change. She is known for developing high performing teams through her coaching and mentoring and is an expert at front-line communication.
